Millionth Voicepath dictation takes legal outsourcing into the mainstream

01 March 2006

Outsourcing in the legal sector has taken a further step into the mainstream, as outsourced transcription specialist, Voicepath announces its system has processed its millionth document.

Established to supply law firms with a high quality, pay-as-you-go document transcription service, Voicepath’s service is compatible with most major digital dictation platforms and is now available to small practices and sole practitioners directly from digital dictation handsets.

Voicepath general manager, Richard Bate, comments: “This is an important milestone, both for us and the role outsourcing support work now plays in the legal sector in general. As a company which has played a pioneering role in establishing outsourcing as a way for firms to increase efficiency and profitability without increasing their costs, we have seen interest in such services gradually gaining momentum.

“Furthermore, with outsourcing now being something of a buzzword in the profession, we are better able to educate lawyers and practice managers on the benefits of using our service versus the competition. We can, for example, focus on the fact that Voicepath keeps transcription work within the UK, produces work of a very high standard and can return completed documents to clients within the hour.”

And even though outsourcing is still seen in the public consciousness as something big businesses do for profit alone, Richard is keen to point out that working in the legal sector has left Voicepath with a very different impression. He adds: “We have very good relationships with a number of large firms but so far have found the greatest interest and level of uptake in forward-thinking small to medium-sized operations.

“It seems that firms of these sizes are more willing to face the fact that doing better business sometimes involves change – and that outsourcing support work to a company like Voicepath can bring significant benefits.”

And with UK firms under mounting pressure to stay efficient, Richard can only see the demand for the Voicepath service increasing. He concludes: “Firms choose us for any number of reasons: some want to clear typing backlogs; others to run secretary-less offices; or because there aren’t enough good secretaries to recruit in the immediate area.

“What they do get in outsourcing through Voicepath, however, is a fast, accurate and reliable source of support – which is what matters. We look forward to working with them on the next million documents.”
