Small practices, barristers and sole practitioners now have the chance to free themselves of typing backlogs and the expense of secretaries and support staff, as legal transcription specialist, Voicepath, adds an on-demand outsourced typing service to its range, designed with the smaller firm in mind.
Problems caused by typing backlogs or staff shortages will be eliminated by Voicepath’s Genies – its bank of experienced legal secretaries - without the time or cost involved in finding temps.
The new service allows sole practitioners and firms too small to benefit from digital dictation systems to take advantage of the cost savings and convenience of outsourcing support work. It enables fee earners to send dictations from their handsets to Voicepath’s proven, high quality transcription service through the ease of email. Voicepath then manages the whole process, providing clients with completed, checked documents on a flexible, pay-as-you-go basis.
This marks a new stage in Voicepath’s Inside strategy – the provision of outsourced transcription through a partner network - with the company now integrating its services with the handset software from major manufacturers such as Olympus as well as with the digital dictation platforms.
Ryan Braddock, UK sales manager, Olympus Pro-Line dictation systems, comments: “Olympus is delighted to be working with Voicepath. Through Voicepath’s new association with the Olympus Pro Line dealer network we’re looking forward to introducing UK law firms to the many benefits of digital dictation and outsourcing transcription workloads.”
Runnett & Co, a 2 fee earner specialist property and probate practice based in Carmarthen Wales, is already benefiting from the service. Senior partner, Lindsay Runnett, comments: “We first considered using outsourcing as a way to reduce costs. Quite simply, it was cheaper and simpler to outsource the transcriptions our existing staff had no time to deal with than take on the expense of additional staff or temps.”
Lindsay continues: “Before using Voicepath we were experiencing regular backlogs where there was simply too much typing for our own staff to cope with. Now, however, these are a thing of the past – and the opportunity to have the whole dictation process managed for us is hugely convenient.”
Voicepath general manager, Richard Bate, concludes: “We created this new service after a number of firms like Runnett & Co approached us appealing for something that would allow them to get their typing done on time.
“The days in which even the smallest practice could afford a full-time legal secretary are long gone, and we were coming across the situation in which lawyers were having to do their own typing. Not only was this not the best use of their time, but it also led to frustration and backlogs."
“With this extension to the Voicepath service, however, even the smallest firm can look forward to enjoying the benefits of outsourcing the work they may not have the time or infrastructure to do. We are committed to providing all firms, regardless of their size, with on-demand, scalable and secure transcription services.”
