Voicepath, the outsourced legal transcription provider, has proven that hard pressed legal firms do not need to look to India for effective outsourced services, as its UK-based solution pays dividends to P.I. and conveyancing specialist, Scott Rees.
The Skelmersdale firm’s success depends on its ability to process large quantities of work quickly and efficiently. From its earliest days it has used a number of IT-based case management solutions to ensure smooth workflow, but more recently also turned to digital dictation technology as a means of speeding up its administration processes.
Once the firm began to feel the positive effects of digital dictation, it began to look at outsourcing a proportion of its transcription work, deciding at first to employ an India based service.
Scott Rees Chief Operating Officer, Michael Lough, comments: “There were a number of issues with outsourcing to India. It was okay in terms of the time difference and sometimes this could work quite well. But, on balance, we felt that the issues the process raised outweighed the advantages.”
Among these issues were the transcribers’ difficulty in picking up on English dialect or nuance, poor grasp of legal jargon and, as many people who have recently used a 118 number will understand, a lack of UK geographical knowledge.
Consequently, Scott Rees began looking into the transcription options available closer to home and Voicepath rapidly came to their attention.
Voicepath is the UK’s leading onshore, outsourced transcription service. Employing a network of qualified legal secretaries, it provides law firms with a fast, accurate and professional service which is fully conversant with clients’ individuals needs. What’s more, Voicepath’s services integrate seamlessly with a wide variety of digital dictation platforms, thereby easing communications between fee earner and outsourced secretary.
Michael adds: “We quickly found that, for a small increase in cost, we could gain significant efficiencies and a real uplift in the quality of output. It has made a big difference to people’s confidence in using an outsourced service.”
Michael has also been impressed by Voicepath’s focus on working with Scott Rees to give the firm a competitive edge. He concludes: “I think Voicepath understands better than most the way law firm technology is evolving.
“Such pragmatism is both refreshing and encouraging, and makes us much more comfortable in continuing our relationship with them.”
