Voicepath announces new business strategy

09 February 2005

Voicepath, the UK’s leading onshore outsourcing legal transcription specialist, today, 9th February 2005, announces a new business strategy which will build on major new partnership initiatives and allow it to fully focus on its core business.

The move means Voicepath will no longer offer digital dictation systems to new customers. Instead the company will continue to expand and develop its highly respected onshore legal transcription service for lawyers.

Speaking from the Legal IT Show at London’s Business Design Centre, General Manager, Richard Bate, said: “Our primary aim has always been to provide the most secure and efficient onshore outsourced transcription service in the UK.

“Today, we can confirm that we now have in place the partnerships we need to enable us to focus on what we do best. This, at a time when the UK legal sector is having to take a long hard look at what it can do to optimise efficiencies and confidence.”

Bate says that, with the most recent PwC survey showing that ‘dozens of partners’ have been axed from close to half of the top 25 law firms: “It is now clear that, even those at the top of their field, are looking towards cutting costs and protecting profits.

“Axing partners may be one route,“ he says, “but another is to look at the mechanisms that actually power the business and question their efficiency.”

Voicepath believes that Britain’s law firms could ‘save millions’ by recognising the value of secure and efficient onshore outsourced legal transcription services. “Why pay Legal Secretaries tens of thousands of pounds a year to type documents when they could play a bigger role within firms supporting partners and associates? It just doesn’t make sense,” says Bate.

Exhibiting at the Legal IT Show with partners WinScribe, Opsis and G2 Speech, Voicepath is now showcasing its ‘Voicepath Inside’ service which offers law firms that chance to access rapid turnaround highly secure onshore outsourced transcription services staffed by fully-trained legal secretaries.

“We know what the primary concerns of firms are when considering outsourcing,” says Bate. “These have been the key drivers which have helped shape our business model. Now, as more and more firms look at how they can control costs, we can provide a solution which not only ticks all the boxes, but which gives law firms a genuine opportunity of developing a highly competitive edge.”

Voicepath will now be encouraging potential clients who have still to choose Digital Dictation Systems (DDS) to choose ones with ‘Voicepath Inside’ and will actively work with partner DDS/workflow system providers to recommend the most appropriate solution to suit their needs.

“We will also be working closely with our existing customers,” says Bate, “to see where a change from our own hosted DDS service to one of our partners can add value. In fact we are already doing this.”

Bate says that, while DDS systems improve internal transcription efficiency, by outsourcing transcription to Voicepath, clients can see a faster return on their investment and increased fee-earner productivity with a lower fee-earner to secretary ratio.

To promote its new business strategy Voicepath has launched a major new marketing initiative – a campaign which will run throughout the year and which will focus on four key areas:

  • the productivity and profitability to be gained from using the service
  • the security of work transfer to and from Voicepath
  • the speed and accuracy of transcription turnaround
  • the fact that the Voicepath offer is exclusively UK-based

Bate says: “Attitudes are changing towards outsourcing, but inevitably this takes time. It appears now that many firms are now prepared to take a closer look at what will be a growing phenomenon. We would urge them all to take a good look at Voicepath.”
