Voicepath and OPSIS first with integration breakthrough for UK lawyers

18 November 2004

The outsourced transcription specialist Voicepath, working with legal software provider OPSIS, has today, Tuesday 16 November 2004, announced the successful development of the UK's first integrated technology platform for the legal profession which combines digital dictation & document outsourcing with a firm's own case management system.

The news is a significant breakthrough for the legal sector as it means that lawyers will now be able to dictate their case-work, outsource the transcription and have it returned within the hour - all within the security and familiarity of their own case management system.

Voicepath General Manager Richard Bate explains that the development has been made possible through collaborative development between the Digital Dictation Specialist (DDS) WinScribe, Voicepath themselves, and OPSIS. Effectively WinScribe DDS systems will now have 'Voicepath Inside', enabling them to work seamlessly with OPSIS Solicitor Case Manager software.

"The combination of these technologies offers UK law firms a seamless outsourcing system, protected by the same firewalls and security protection measures as those used by governments and leading banking institutions. Moreover, it allows Voicepath transcribers to work within the case management system environment without ever needing to see the client's details, further enhancing the levels of security and confidence in the system. So now firms can develop their practices on the back of fully integrated digital systems which offer real efficiencies and genuine integration"

OPSIS managing director, Brian O'Neill, says: "The WinScribe system, with Voicepath Inside, integrated with our Solicitor Case Manager software, offers clients a unique transcription option which is not dependent on the availability of in-house secretaries. OPSIS is delighted to be able to provide its clients with a secure and progressive service, enabling flexibility and the quick turnaround of documents."

To celebrate the launch of the new service, up until March 2005, OPSIS customers will have the opportunity to try the Voicepath service free-of-charge as Voicepath will offer transcription vouchers to the value of the WinScribe Exporter licences they purchase from OPSIS.

Bate says: "We believe the future success of many legal firms will be dependent on their ability to maximise the effective use of their resources - including their trained legal secretaries. This combined solution gives firms the opportunity to do just that."

Voicepath is the UK's leading onshore provider for outsourced legal transcriptions and OPSIS, as approved members of the Legal Software Suppliers Association, already provides over 600 firms in the UK and Ireland with its legal software solutions.
